November 4-6, 2011: Fulda Gap
It's that time of year again for NATO and WARSAW PACT to have a slugfest. The scenario game, Fulda Gap is one of the 8 largest scenario games in the United States and is held at Command Decisions Wargames Center in Taylorsville, NC. SDI will be attending Fulda Gap this year for the third time. Once again we will be fighting for the NATO side of the conflict, under the command of General Larry "Ironman" Rivenbark of Rogue Cell. SDI is part of the fighting 3-22 led by Noah of the Dogs of War. Other teams fighting for the 3-22 include: Alpha Fire Company, Pale Horse Three, and the Dogs of War.
Post Game Comments: NATO forces didn't bring home the win this year, but SDI was on the front line all weekend long. Fulda Gap is more than a scenario game, and SDI enjoyed the experience this year. It's always good to be in the same location as 1050+ other people who love paintball. SDI is proud to announce that Matthew "ColMustard" Leonard was awarded a Sportsmanship award for his positive attitude while facing out-numbered opposition.
October 8, 2011: Night Terrors II
Based on the success of our first night game in April, SDI decided to once again produce an evening of missions for a charitable cause. Night Terrors II is a charity event being held at Boss Paintball in Locust, NC. To obtain additional information on the event, click on the event name above.
Post Game Comments:
Night Terrors II had a turnout of 33 players divided into two teams, who ran missions with the goal of obtaining the most points for their side by the end of the night. The attending players had a good mix of experience levels and all came to have a fun time. Shadow Dragon Initiative chose to donate 100% of the registration revenue to charity. The total amount raised was $710, which was split evenly to three charities. Our charities of choice for this event were: Kreitzer's Critter Coral Puppy Rescue, Doberman Rescue of North Carolina, and Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary.
We would like to thank the players that came out to support a great cause, those who volunteered to help referee and Boss Paintball Field for their support and providing a location for the game.
October 1, 2011: The Delphi
"The Delphi" is a scenario game produced by BOSS Company at Boss Paintball Field in Locust, NC. It is a futuristic sci-fi game that breaks the mold of normal scenario games. Collect pieces of technology from the shipwreck of The Delphi and use them to construct powerful weapons and enhancements. It is said that the team which follows the battle plan of their criminal boss will crush all competition by force. SDI will be fighting under General Billy "Greenman" Ford of ODX for the Red Star Syndicate.
Post Game Comments: SDI is proud to announce we were awarded Most Valuable Team for the winning side of this space pirate battle. After the game, the General from the opposing side told us that everytime he asked about a strategic point on the field, he was informed that SDI had it locked down. This was even more of a shock when he realized we only had 5 members on the field that day. It was a fun day of pushes and both sides fought valiantly.
September 10, 2011: Battle of Dunkirk
PBC Greensboro is hosting a one day scenario game produced by Team Omen. This will be the first event that SDI has attended at this field. We are looking forward to the challenge of learning a new terrain.

June 18, 2011: Beach Battle Boogaloo
Boss Paintball is hosting a one day scenario game produced by the Boss Paintball Scenario Team. Unlike the previous scenarios held at Boss Paintball which were based on actual or fictional battles, BBB is designed to be a light hearted and fun event. SDI will be represented at the event.
Post Game Comments: This was a fun event that lived up to what the producers were trying to accomplish. SDI and their brothers'in'arms had a fun time on the field.
May 21-22, 2011: Vietnam Patrol
Vietnam Patrol is a two day paintball scenario hosted at Command Decisions Wargames Center in Taylorsville, NC. Over the last couple of years, Vietnam Patrol has been hot, humid, and rainy. SDI is fighting for General "Noah" of the Dogs of War for the US side this year, and is prepared to hold the line and prevent the enemy from invading Saigon.
Post Game Comments: About 250 players attended this year's Vietnam Patrol and 5 tanks were fielded for the weekend long battle. SDI fought hard Saturday and Sunday for the US. The game came down to the last minute in determining the victor, it couldn't have been any closer. The NVA side won the game, but the US put up one heck of a fight. SDI had a great time on and off the field. SDI's Matthew "ColMustard" Leonard brought home the MVP award for busting tanks trying to get into Saigon on Saturday thanks to assistance from his fellow SDI team members.
April 2, 2011: Night Terrors
Night Terrors is a charity event being held at Boss Paintball in Locust, NC produced by SDI. This event will be an evening full of missions for a good cause. For more information click on the event name or click here to register today.
Post Game Comments:
SDI produced Night Terrors with three goals in mind; 1. Produce a night game that was different and better than any that we have seen, 2. Provide a fun event for the players, and 3. Raise money for a worthy charity. Based on the feedback we are receiving from the players, Night Terrors was a success. The elements that were new approaches to night games were viewed as enhancements. We had a turnout of 23 players divided onto two teams, who ran missions with the goal of obtaining the most points for their side by the end of the night. The attending players had a good mix of experience levels and all came to have a fun time. Shadow Dragon Initiative chose to donate 100% of the registration revenue to charity. This equated to $20 a person, and numerous players gave additional small donations to bring the total up to $510. Our charity of choice for this event was the Cabarrus Humane Society.
We would like to thank the players that came out to support our first production, the members of Boss Company and others who volunteered to help ref, and Boss Paintball Field for their support and providing a location for the game.
March 19, 2011: Generation Kill
Generation Kill is a scenario game held at Command Decisions Wargames Center in Taylorsville, NC. The game is being produced by Wingman and his scenario team, Tango Alpha 2. This year there are two armies the Marines and the Fedayeen. The general of the Marines is Billy "Greenman" Ford, XO of team ODX. SDI will be fighting for the cause of the Marines.
Post Game Comments: This year, 225 players participated in Generation Kill at CDWC. The Marines brought home the win, and SDI was proud to be part of the carnage that took place. SDI had a great time and spent the entire day on the field, as we always do. SDI's Matthew "ColMustard" Leonard brought home the MVP award thanks to superb tank busting made possible by the assistance of his fellow SDI team members.
February 12, 2011: Battle of Bastonge
Battle of Bastogne at Boss Paintball is the first scenario game on SDI's 2011 schedule. This game is being produced by the Boss Paintball scenario team. The battle is between the German Panzer unit led by General "Ferg" and the American Paratroopers led by General "X-man". SDI is fighting for the German Panzer unit in this conflict along side 6 tanks and other scenario teams. SDI is bringing a ten man wrecking crew to this game to start off the season right.
Post Game Comments: Around 320 players descended upon Boss Paintball in Locust, NC for the Battle of Bastogne. The German Panzer unit brought 3 medium weight and 3 light weight tanks to the fight. The German forces kept the Americans on their heels all day and by the end of the day we pushed the Americans back to their base. SDI spent the day leading pushes, busting bunkers with rockets, and fighting alongside the rest of the German forces.
November 5-7, 2010: Fulda Gap
One spark on the world scene will be all that it will take to ignite the NATO and Warsaw Pact military forces and send them crashing into each other across the only thing that stood between them, the Fulda Gap. The scenario game, Fulda Gap is one of the 8 largest scenario games in the United States and is held at Command Decisions Wargames Center in Taylorsville, NC. SDI will be attending Fulda Gap this year for the second time. Once again we will be fighting for NATO side of the conflict, this time under the command of General Larry "Ironman" Rivenbark of Rogue Cell. SDI is part of the fighting 3-22 led by Noah of the Dogs of War. Other teams fighting for the 3-22 include: Boss Company, Team Ronin, Pale Horse Three, Yankee Division, and the Dogs of War.
Post Game Comments: For the first time since the inception of the Fulda Gap scenario game in 2006, NATO was victorious on the field of battle. This year instead of hiding in their bases waiting for Warsaw's impending attack, NATO pushed out and held an aggressive front line to create an offensive barrier which paid off as a great defense. Saturday was full of great battles under heavy fire. The fighting 3-22 was charged with holding Fire-base Alpha (Fulda), which only fell once on Saturday for a short time and the 3-22 recovered it. On Sunday NATO started in the high ground of the field, although we still had to fight uphill to get to the Communists. NATO had to fight to reclaim their bases. After an intense battle, the fighting 3-22 was able to once again secure Firebase Alpha (Fulda). Throughout the rest of the day NATO pushed the Warsaw Pact closer to their entry point. At the end of the day, SDI participated in an assault of the Warsaw Pact's primary base (Bravo) not once but three times. The refs came and pushed back NATO two times only for NATO to just retake the base. SDI was on the field blasting away at the communists both Saturday and Sunday unless they were refilling paint and air in between assaults.
November 5-6, 2010: TPSAC Pistol Competition

This year at Fulda Gap, Command Decisions Wargames Center is hosting the first annual Tactical Paintball Shooter's Association competition. All competitors must use a paintball pistol and can participate in either the stock or modified class. SDI's Matthew "ColMustard" Leonard will be representing the team in the stock class using a Tippmann TPX.
Post Game Comments: After obtaining a competitive 1 minute 44 seconds in the qualifying round, ColMustard proceeded forward in the competition. In the final round he was able to trim off 5 seconds of his time obtaining 1 minute 39 seconds. This time earned him third place out of the seventeen competitors in the stock class. Taking first place was "Kimo" of the LA Hitmen based in California and second place winner was "Maverick" of the 5 x 5 Scenario Team based in Georgia.

September 11, 2010: A Private Army II

This event is a sequal to the private scenario game SDI attended in April. For this event SDI decided to assist as role-players.
Post Game Comments: This event was a success which comes as no surprise when looking at how much planning went into it by the host(s). SDI had a good time and we would like to thank the host(s) for the invite to role-play at this private event.

June 12, 2010: an-Naksah

Boss Paintball is hosting a one day scenario game designed and reffed by the Boss Paintball Scenario Team. The field is being modified for this event by adding a river, bridges, and additional bunkers. The scenario is based on the 6 day war between the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and the Egyptians. SDI is signed up to run with the IDF under the command of Noah from the Dogs of War. The Egyptians are led by BigBear of Section 8, a scenario paintball team from South Carolina. There is a large list of scenario teams committed to this event, so it will be the battle you don't want to miss. As well as the expectation for a good fight, Boss Paintball has sweetened the game by guaranteeing over $3,000.00 worth of prizes will be given away throughout the day, including a brand new Ego 10 which will be raffled for just $5 per ticket! Pre-registration runs through June 6, 2010.
Post Game Comments: The game was hot (about 101 degrees with heat index) but everyone including SDI had a great time at the battle. Boss Company did a great job producing and reffing their first scenario as a team. The Israeli Defense Forces took home the win. SDI team member Warchild recorded a portion of the final battle on video.
May 15-16, 2010: Vietnam Patrol

Vietnam Patrol is a two day paintball scenario hosted at Command Decisions Wargames Center in Taylorsville, NC. Last year's Vietnam Patrol made us feel like we were actually fighting in Vietnam due to the heat, humidity, and rain. SDI is prepared for the same situation this year, although we would love if there was at the least no rain. SDI is fighting as Vietcong again this year, and is prepared to send all enemies packing in the opposite direction. For more information on the event, click on the embedded link in the text above.
Post Game Comments: As anticipated, it was hot, humid, and rained both Friday and Saturday night. SDI fought hard Saturday and Sunday for the Vietcong. The Vietcong/NVA side won by a landside before the end of the day on Sunday, so CDWC called for a cease fire and a three hour long final battle was started. SDI had a great time on and off the field. PaintballCarolina.com once again provided great photographic coverage of the event and SDI.
May 1, 2010: Clear & Present Danger

Clear & Present Danger is three sided scenario game hosted at Wolfcreek Paintball in Star, NC. This is the third year of this annual game. The three sides are the US Special Forces, the Columbian Government, and the Drug Cartel. SDI accepted an invitation to run with the US Special Forces under the command of the General, Noah, of the Dogs of War. This will be a new event and a new field for the SDI members in attendance.
Post Game Comments: The US Special Forces was comprised of Shadow Dragon initiative, the Dogs of War, Boss Company, the River Rats, and the Carolina Mercenaries. The teams ran seamlessly together to wreck havoc on both the Columbian Government and the Drug Cartel. The total turnout for the event was around 60 total players balanced across the teams. The weather was hot and humid. There is an in depth After Action Report by the US Special Forces General available in both the SDI and DOW forums. PaintballCarolina.com got some great pictures of SDI during the battle.
April 10, 2010: A Private Army
This event is a private scenario game designed to test numerous concepts for scenario play. The host(s) of this event requested for it to remain confidential, because they do not want to offend any of the teams who were not invited. This is the event that was rescheduled from January.
Post Game Comments: This event was setup so that SDI could run together for the entire day. We would like to thank the host(s) for the invite to this private event. Thanks also go out to PaintballCarolina.com for their photographic coverage of the event. SDI was in numerous shots taken throughout the event, including the one used for their website's header:

March 6, 2010: Most Valuable Team

It is with great pride that we announce that Shadow Dragon Initiative was chosen as the Most Valuable Team at Generation Kill 2010. We played with passion and commitment and are thankful to General Kevin "Hammer" Shimwell for the recognition. SDI battled against the Marines and/or the Pashtun Mafia leading charges, assisting in base defense, and running flanks in dense tree-lines throughout the day. Needless to say, we are looking forward to the next event at CDWC, Vietnam Patrol: Tet Offensive on May 15-16.
March 6, 2010: Generation Kill

Command Decisions Wargames Center is hosting Generation Kill again this year. The game is being produced by Wingman and his scenario team, Tango Alpha 2. This year there will be four factions; the Marines, the Taliban, the Pashtun Mafia, and Afghani citizens. SDI was approached by Ironman of Rogue Cell, who is the XO for the Taliban, to run under him. The general of the Taliban forces is Kevin Shimwell, owner of Adventure Beach Paintball in Myrtle Beach, SC. We are looking forward to the pure chaos that is sure to unfold on a field with 3 warring factions who are able to make deals with each other and the Afghani citizens. For further information on the game, click on the event name above.
Post Game Comments: The event turnout was about 300 players, split between three armies, the Taliban, the Marines, and the Pashtun Mafia. CDWC did a wonderful job keeping the registration, paint, chrono, and air fill lines moving smoothly all day. Based on the game concept presented on the official website, the game producers, Tango Alpha 2, executed the event successfully. The day was filled with chaos and confusion stemming from the armies making and breaking alliances. The event wrapped up with the Taliban taking first place in points earned. The Taliban had numerous teams which worked together to seal the win: SDI, Rogue Cell, Port City Militia, SOS Operators, Paintball Soldiers, Motley Crew/1st Reborn, Chaos Parade KC Dark Legion, ABP Locals, Rock City Boys, 1st Reborn Battalion, Tech Assault, Task Force 828, and High Impact Wolves. SDI team member Poppa had the opportunity to capture the final 30 minutes of the game on video.
February 27, 2010: We Come in Peace

Boss Paintball is hosting a one day scenario game, two days in a row. SDI will be playing on Saturday, February 27 along with some of our friends and scenario brothers. For more information click on the field name above. It should be a great day and a light-hearted scenario game. For anyone interested in playing, there will be no registration fee or field fee for the day, instead each player is only required to purchase a case of paint.
Post Game Comments: The turnout for the event was around 100 players divided between two teams. SDI was assigned the yellow team and fought alongside The Dogs of War, River Rats, and Carolina Mercenaries. The day was full of intense fire fights and all around fun. The firefights were so intense and frequent that many players burned through multiple cases of paint before reaching the final battle. SDI's ColMustard was one, which provided an opportunity for him to capture the 45 minute battle on video. The game was reffed by members of the Boss Company scenario team, and many of the members who were not reffing were playing on the red team. SDI played hard and went home satisfied and geared up for the Generation Kill event the next weekend, as it should be.
January, 2010: New Recruits for a New Year
Shadow Dragon Initiative has officially been a team for 6 months, and we decided it was time to bring in some new brood. Our selection process focused on paintballers we had played beside in the past and who were not part of a scenario team yet. With that being said, SDI is proud to announce the addition of new players.
Postponed: A Private Army

Shadow Dragon Initiative will be participating in a Military Simulation private game at one of our favorite fields. There will be 6 teams, each with missions that force them to interact as both friends and foes. More information may follow, if we are permitted to disclose any information after the event.
Update: This game has been postponed until April 10, 2010. The original date in January was below freezing, which is not good for the paintballs or the markers.
December 30, 2009: End of the Year Team Dinner

Shadow Dragon Initiative invaded the Outback Steakhouse in Salisbury, NC for their end of year get together. Also in attendance were the SDI Support Team (our significant others.) We discussed the 2009 year and the future for the team. It was a great evening full of laughs.
November 6-8, 2009: Fulda Gap

Look for Shadow Dragon Initiative fighting alongside their NATO brothers in this years Fulda Gap at Command Decisions Wargames Center. Led by Outcast of Rogue Cell, SDI is a member of the 3-23 Mechanized Infantry Division along with the River Rats and Rogue Cell. The event gets closer by the day, and the units are filling up fast. If you are interested in attending the event I would recommend getting signed up as soon as possible. SDI is also the first scenario team to step up as a sponsor for the event. We have a few good items to donate to the door prize raffle.
Post Game Comments: The turnout for the event was pushing 950 players. The Dragons played hard and went home tired, as it should be. SDI had a great time at the event and look forward to future games at Command Decisions Wargames Center.
September 19, 2009: Brother's in Arms: Hell's Highway

Post Game Comments: The turnout for the event was around 45 players and although the weather channel had grim outlooks for the day it ended up being gorgeous. A few days before the event, Noah ended up catching a dog's version of the flu, and was not in any condition to play. Other scenario teams that were represented at the event were ODX, Tango Alpha2, Rogue Cell, and Team for Hire. Ironman of Rogue Cell wrote an AAR which was posted to the TA2 website, and the first comment contains a long winded game summary written by ColMustard.
August 23, 2009: Urban Combat

SDI has been invited by Outcast of Rogue Cell to a recreational day in Raleigh, NC in an abandoned apartment complex. It seems the property is owned by a fellow paintslinger who is selling the property, but is not concerned with the condition of the buildings themselves. This is a once in a lifetime type event, and we will be there to share in the carnage.
Post Game Comments: SDI would first like to thank the property owner, Matt, for the opportunity to play in an urban setting. SDI would also like to thank Outcast for the invitation to come out and share in the carnage. The turnout was about 24 players, which seemed to be a good number for the size of the battlefield. Everyone from SDI had a great time. It was good to once again play along side or against our fellow scenario brothers from Rogue Cell and the Dogs of War. It was also good to meet the unofficial NC State paintball team. There were few, if any, photos captured during the fire fights, but at the end of the day, two 20 pace pistol duels occurred. The first was ColMustard vs. Bones of the DOW and the second duel was ColMustard vs. Brokem of the DOW. These gunfights were played as the best of 3 rounds, and rounds where both players missed were not counted. All rounds were captured on video by Bad Company, who ended up taking one for the team. The videos have been uploaded to youtube.com and can be seen at the links below:
Duel One: Video One, Video Two, Video Three
Duel Two: Video One, Video Two
